Two Armenian athletes were in action on Sunday. One woman, Anahit Barseghyan, swam in the 100 m backstroke event while another man, Armen Nazaryan, participated in the 66 kg judo competition.
Neither showed any signs of success in their respective tournament.
Barseghyan finished second to last in the qualifying heats of the 100 m backstroke finishing the race in 1 minute and eight seconds. Missy Franklin of the United States won gold in the event at 58.33 seconds, setting an American record.
Meanwhile in judo, Nazaryan won his first match against an opponent from Papua New Guinea. However, he lost in the next round to Pawel Zagrodnik of Poland.
No Armenians participated in Day 3 of action.
Tomorrow, Mikael Koloyan will participate in the 100 m freestyle swimming event and Arakel Mirzoyan will participate in the 66 kg weightlifting competition.
